Student Led Conferences

We invite you to our Student-Led Conferences on Wednesday, March 5, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Unlike previous conferences, teachers will be available in their classrooms to discuss your child’s progress in Semester 2, rather than in the gymnasium.
In addition to the student-led conferences, we are offering several informative presentations to support students during key transition periods. Whether your child is preparing for post-secondary education or selecting courses for the next school year, we hope you find these sessions valuable.
Presentations Schedule:
Graduation Requirements and Pathways – 6:00 PM (Anne Portnuff Theatre)
Mrs. Armstrong, Mr. Kyle, and Dr. Needham will discuss recent Ministry of Education changes to graduation requirements, including required courses and new offerings for the 2025-26 school year. This session is designed for students in Grades 9, 10, and 11 who will be selecting courses for the next school year.
Cornerstone Credit Union Finance Presentation – 5:30 – 6:30 PM (Cafeteria)
Hosted by the Cornerstone Credit Union, this session will provide valuable information about student loan options as students prepare for post-secondary education. It is intended for Grade 11 and 12 students and their parents.
Work-Based Credits Presentation – 5:00 – 5:30 PM (Room A2)
Mr. Haczkewicz, the GSSD Career Ed Liaison, will explain the variety of work-based credits students can earn toward graduation. This presentation is recommended for students in Grades 9, 10, and 11.
Practical and Applied Arts Tours – 4:30 PM, 5:30 PM, and 6:30 PM (Starting in the Barry Sharpe Foyer)
Mr. Chad McDowell will lead a tour of the Practical and Applied Arts (PAA) shops and labs at the YRHS, including Machining, Electrical, Construction, Welding, Mechanics, Cosmetology, Robotics, Photography, Commercial Cooking and Autobody. Students interested in these programs are encouraged to attend.
